Not really. I might move you toward better light, or suggest you do something you'd normally do, read a book, play a game, make a coffee. But I'm not going to line you up and tell you to say cheese. I photograph your family being your family.

That's fine. Actually, that's kind of the point. I'm not looking for perfect smiles. I'm looking for them. The curiosity, the chaos, the way they actually are. Some of my favourite shots come from the "uncooperative" moments.

Don't overthink it. Don't deep clean. Just be home, be yourselves. If there's a particular room or spot that feels meaningful, the couch everyone piles on, the backyard they always play in, let me know. But mostly, I'll follow your family's rhythm.

Absolutely. If Grandma's visiting for Christmas or the cousins are in town, include them. These are the gatherings that become harder to organize as kids grow up. Capture them while everyone's in one place.

We reschedule — no stress. Or we embrace it. Or we move it inside if you're happy with that. Some of my favourite sessions have been rainy day, everyone-at-home shoots. Cozy has its own magic.

I’m Lachlan
I'm a photographer on the Mornington Peninsula. I also shoot weddings and work with hospitality brands but the thread through everything I do is the same: context carries meaning.
When I look at old family photos, I don't just see faces. I see the lounge chair my dad always sat in. The fridge covered in magnets. The dining table that was never quite clear. Those details are what take me back.
That's what I want to give you. Not just a portrait of your family, but a record of where you are right now. The house. The mess. The light through the window. The unique things about your kids at this age, in this place, in this chapter.
I'm not here to pose you into something unnatural. I'm here to see what's already there and capture those moments for you to enjoy in the years to come.
